The energy team at NEC can trace its roots back to the early days of energy rating in 2000. This gives us a uniquely experienced team of surveyors and property professionals having undertaking hundreds of energy ratings on pub's, offices, warehouses and shops within the commercial building sector.
The Government's Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) was implemented in the domestic sector in 2007 with the commercial building sector following in 2008. The EPBD is a drive to improve energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions and meet climate change targets. This legislation affects both landlords and property owners who must provide an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) to any prospective buyer or tenant when they construct, sell or lease a commercial building. Public buildings over 1000m2 require a Display Energy Certificate (DEC) on an annual basis.
As of 6th April 2012, the energy act (2011) extends the legislation making managing agents responsible for ensuring the relevant person can provide an EPC at point of marketing. NEC is fully accredited to undertake energy assessments through Sterling Accreditation, ensuring high quality standards are maintained in line with CLG requirements.
